Dell, with the number three spot in computer sales in 2009, is well known internationally for its laptop and other
computers. While their computers are not without problems, it is one of the most famous manufacturers of top quality computers. What sets them apart for many is their pioneering in a manufacturing process that allows customers to specify exactly what they want and customize their computers. This is very useful when purchasing a laptop.
For those who like computers built to their specifications, desktop PCs offer a relatively easy solution. The modular design of modern PCs allows users to select the components they want and build them with relative ease. Their size also makes the components easy to access and change when necessary.
This is not true with laptops. Since they must be made smaller, the components are miniaturized as much as possible and packed together with little space between them. This makes them much harder to work on. For example, while a hard drive is easy to access on a desktop PC and most any drive will work for most any computer, accessing a hard drive on a laptop PC may require removing various components and then the drives it can be replaced with will be limited.
